Getting Started

Fee Structure

My fee is $225 for a fifty-minute individual session and $250 for minors and couples. If we determine it would be best to increase our sessions to several times a week, I am willing to adjust the fee accordingly, depending on circumstance. If you would like a longer session, options to meet for an extended session are available and pro-rated. I have some reduced fee slots based on financial circumstances and availability.

Payment

I use Zelle, a secure, easy, and free way to send money through your bank account, or the Zelle app if your bank doesn’t currently offer Zelle. You can go to Zelle’s website to get started and see if your bank is affiliated. If this form of payment is not feasible, we can determine a payment method that will better support you. We can also discuss weekly, biweekly, or monthly fee structures.

insurance

I am not affiliated with insurance companies or panels. However, you can see me as an out-of-network provider, which means you would pay me directly on a weekly basis and get partially reimbursed later on. Check with your insurance about out-of-network reimbursement. If your insurance accepts out-of-network providers and you wish to submit a claim for reimbursement, I can provide you with a monthly statement, which will include a clinical diagnosis that we will discuss and a procedure code that indicates individual psychotherapy.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. I will provide you with Good Faith Estimate upon initiating therapy.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. I will also keep a copy in my secure records. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

scheduling

Therapy works best when weekly sessions are held as consistently as possible. Sessions are usually 50 minutes, at least once a week, which means we will pick a day and time that works with your ongoing schedule, and meet until you feel ready to stop.

Beginning therapy initiates a change process, but lasting change takes repetition. If we miss or skip a week, we lose momentum and end up spending a lot more time in session rebuilding the comfort and rapport we worked hard to previously create. Also, a significant amount of the session ends up being devoted to “catching up” and filling the therapist in on what happened during the time away. While this is normal and how many sessions begin, less time becomes available to focus on the here-and-now and to go into depth on the issues and themes we have been tracking week to week.

The cadence of weekly psychotherapy sessions gently reminds us that there is designated time and space to drop in and be seen by both ourselves and another trusted individual. And that this deep, vulnerable work is possible because of this frame we set in place.

I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so that we can get a feel for what it might be like to work together. You can go to the Schedule a Session tab to get started.
